French Bulldog - Lana - Small - Adult - Female - Dog
Lana was surrendered by her former owner because she showed aggression toward the older dog in the home. She was purchased from a national pet store chain and is assumed to have been used as a breeder. Now that Lana is in her foster home, shes proved that she is very loving. She just wants to be petted and shown affection. She loves long walks in the yard and sleeping on any lap that's available. She is laid back and has a goofy personality. Although Lana knows how to charm her humans, she should not be with other dogs. She gets very annoyed with them and will nip, but she has not drawn blood. Despite being wary of other dogs, Lana gets along with all the children in her foster neighborhood. Lana has only ever shown aggression towards other dogs and never people. She doesn't even get cranky when you take her food or toys away. She has nipped at her foster fur brother when he's shown interest in her, sniffed her toy, or tried to drink her water. Although her behavior around other dogs has improved somewhat when they are playing, she would be most comfortable and safe in a home with no other dogs. Lana does have slightly impaired vision in one eye that requires eye drops twice daily. The vet said that this condition could clear up with ongoing medication. Her new owner should also add some water to her dry food to soften it up for her to chew or feed her wet food. Lana also has frequent inflammation between her toes, so her new owner should keep an eye out for it. Lanas hind legs and hips are not as strong as they should be, but she still loves to run and play. She should not be allowed on stairs, because she's not very good at going down them. Kids should not be allowed to pick her up, and it will be hard to prevent them from doing it, because she's relatively small. Let us know about your kids' experience with dogs in your application, it's especially important to mention any experience with dogs with back or leg problems. Lana has done really well with her potty training. She will have an accident maybe once or twice a week, but her foster mother reports that mostly happens when her foster mother loses track of time. On a regular schedule, Lana does quite well. She sleeps in a crate at night, which has improved her bladder control immensely. She is not terribly fond of going into the crate, but once she's there, she's fine. At her foster home, she is kept in an open pen when no one is home. She doesn't know any commands, so her new family should work on these with her; perhaps a session or two with a private trainer to demonstrate proper training methods would be good? Lana needs work on her leash manners. Currently, she will walk without a leash when outside, so a secure, fenced yard is preferred. Her foster mom reports that when Lana is leashed, she cowers down and won't walk. Therefore, a fenced yard is preferred if Lana will not be leashed. If her new owner does not have a fenced yard, he/she should explain in their application how they plan on training Lana so that she can do her business outside safely. Lana loves to chew! Ropesbonesblanketsanything will do! She loves to run around in the yard and jump into her foster mothers lap afterwards for a nap. Lana would be amazing in any type of home, as long as she's the only animal and there are not too many stairs for her to navigate. Ideally, it would be best if someone was home all day with her, but she would be fine as long as someone lets her out for a mid-day potty break. Because she has an excellent temperament for an office setting, she could also accompany her owner to work if there are no other dogs around. Heres what her foster mom has to say, When you first look at Lana, you can tell she's had a hard 7 years of life. When you first pet Lana, you can tell all she wants love. Lana will only show love to the family she is placed with. She has an adorable little snore when she lays on your lap and you rub behind her ears, and will nudge your leg when she wants to play. You can tell by the way she always has the tip of her tongue sticking out that she is a light-
